Located in an area where parks are a 20-minute walk away and streets are filled with fast-moving cars, this Fun House provides a much-needed space where children can play freely and parents can rest easy. The house was bought by a client who wanted to provide a safe and stimulating environment for his children to grow and learn.
The 40-year-old building was redesigned with the concept of 'HOME' in mind. The designers used natural materials, soft colors, and created numerous interactive spaces for parent-child engagement. The house features a new wooden stairway, two small houses, and two slides, creating a multitude of small paradises for children to explore and learn.
The Fun House was constructed using Thuja plicata wood, tempered glass, gray mirror, and Nordic pine wood. The designers also used "green-key" to ensure the materials were safe and free from toxins. The house spans three floors, with a width of 3.5 meters and a depth of 14.5 meters.
One of the main challenges faced by the designers was constructing a strong wooden stairway and ensuring the use of natural materials did not compromise the safety of the children. They overcame this by using Greenkey De-formaldehyde Coating and traditional techniques.
The Fun House is not just a play center, but a space designed to foster learning and creativity, and to strengthen the parent-child relationship. The client had three main goals for the project: to use natural and safe materials, to create a space that would make children and parents happy, and to ensure there was enough storage space. The designers achieved these goals by focusing on the concept of 'home' - the very start of a child's space.
The Fun House is a testament to the designers' creativity and dedication to creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children. It was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a prestigious recognition given to outstanding and trendsetting creations that advance art, design, and technology.
